Phyter bars are the creation of Chef David Choi Jr., who grew up in a household of Korean vegan chefs and served as head chef at his family’s vegan restaurant in Chicago for nine years. He created an early version of the bars in college when he could not find an acceptable snack in local stores, adapted the concept for plant-based eating classes he began teaching some years later, and perfected them for commercial sale because of the enthusiastic response from his students. They are still handcrafted and cooked in small batches by Chef David himself in the company’s own certified organic kitchen in West Chicago Il.
